It would be known as Straitville.

A massive new student housing development is being pitched in Port Hastings.

The $100-million dollar development would be built on 53 acres of land overlooking the Strait of Canso.

It’s being led by two area business leaders, CEO of Colindale Business Solutions, Damian MacInnis and CEO of Independent Investment of Nova Scotia, George Nwangwu.

They gathered at the NSCC Strait Area Campus on Monday to share their vision for the project to add much needed new housing development in the area.

The first phase will cost $25-million and house 220 people.

“On Monday, we welcomed my business partners, Dr. George Nwangwu and Kenneth Oguzie to Port Hawkesbury at the NSCC Strait Campus to introduce our Student and Employee Housing project in Port Hastings. Phase 1 of this project will be $25M and will help alleviate the pressures on the NSCC with their growth and the businesses in the region,” Damien MacInnis, CEO of Colindale Business Solutions

The developers are hoping to attract government funds and begin work this spring.
