In an emailed release, the City of Thunder Bay is banning TikTok and removing it from all city devices.
Out of an abundance of caution and in consultation with the City’s Corporate Information Technology division and social media team, the TikTok app will be removed from all City devices. In addition, the City’s official TikTok account will be inactive pending results of the Federal Office of the Privacy Commissioner probe. The City of Thunder Bay has not identified any specific security risks at this time.
