More than two dozen residents have been temporarily displaced after a reported fire in Moncton on Wednesday.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Keith Guptill says when they arrived at the 12-unit apartment building on Lockwood Street, there was a small amount of smoke coming from the electrical room, but no fire.

NB Power was called to turn off the electricity.

Guptill says Moncton Fire was only on the scene for around five to ten minutes.

Canadian Red Cross Spokesperson Dan Bedell says volunteers have arranged emergency lodging and meals for around 26 people.

A news release also stated cleanup and repairs are expected to take at least a few days.
