February’s draw in Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s monthly 50/50 lottery has been won by a Fort Frances woman.

Petrina Carlson takes home $11,420.

Carlson doesn’t have any immediate plans for her winnings, though a dinner for her coworkers is in future.

Carlson has been a supporter of the lottery from the beginning and says she is happy to see all the new hospital equipment purchased it has brought.

She isn’t the first in her family to win Riverside Foundation’s cash draw.

Her daughter Chelsea was the winner of the December 2021 draw.

Elizabeth Appleton of North Bay, ON (previously of Fort Frances) was the winner of the $500 early bird prize. She won the same prize in May 2021.

As a result of sales in the last four months, the Foundation reports it has enough funds to purchase a Cellavision DC-1 for the lab.

The software identifies white blood cells, providing a more accurate and faster identification which can lead to faster diagnoses of blood cancers.

Beginning this month, proceeds will go toward the purchase of a double infusion pump for the emergency room.

Tickets are available now at www.riverside5050.ca or by calling the Foundation Office at 274-4803 to arrange for offline sales.
