The Tri-Counties helped Yarmouth’s emergency department in a big way.

Over 157-thousand dollars was raised during Y95’s WE CARE Radiothon yesterday.

The money will be used toward the purchase of three pieces of equipment.

Mary Surette with the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation it means a lot.

“Staff will be able to respond to patients’ needs more quickly and precisely, and they won’t need to go elsewhere in the hospital to retrieve the equipment,” said Surette.

One of the largest donations came from the Yarmouth Professional Firefighters Association at 18-thousand dollars.

Surette thanks all the businesses, sponsors and community for their donations.

“Times have been tough for a lot of individuals with rising costs. We are so overwhelmed with the support in the community.”

She adds the last few years have been difficult for healthcare workers, and their hard work is appreciated.

The equipment being fundraised for: a bedside ultrasound unit, electrocardiogram machine and a bladder scanner.
