Deadline approaching to nominate Woman of Merit

In honour of International Women’s Day, Women’s Shelter, Saakaate House is looking to hand out the 2023 Woman of Merit Award.

“The Woman of Merit Award recognizes a woman in the community who demonstrates a commitment and advocacy for the lives of women and children in our community, in our country and internationally,” says Saakaate House Executive Director, Kendall Trembath.

If you know a woman who makes a difference in the lives of women and girls in our communities – nominate them! Nominators should include a letter of introduction and answer the following questions:

1. What are the nominee’s unique and outstanding achievements?
2. How has the nominee contributed to the well-being of the community?
3. How has the nominee contributed as a role model?

The deadline to get your nomination in is end of day Monday, March 6 and the winner of the Woman of Merit Award will be announced on International Women’s Day, March 8. Nominate someone HERE! 

The announcement will be made at the Embrace Equity Dinner at 901 Westside.

Dorothy Beach was the winner of the 2021 Woman of Merit award after being chosen for the inaugural award for her dedication to education, the positive impact she has made for the lives of other women and girls and her commitment to the community.

The following year, Kenora’s Tracey Benoit was recognized as the Woman of Merit after being nominated for her contributions within the education sector and community.
