Construction on a new affordable senior’s apartment complex has started in Guysborough.

Caper Developments Limited put the shovels in the ground last month and upon completion the building will be called The Carlton Place Apartment Complex.

Andrew Boudreau, President of Caper Developments Limited says these affordable accommodations are needed for the aging population. Many older residents living in larger homes in the county have struggled to keep up with the cost of living and these apartments will help to ease that burden.

“People that are 55 and older that move into these units will help to open up housing space for working families that are looking for housing options in the area,” Says Boudreau “18 units are through Affordable Housing Nova Scotia and the other 18 are regular units at market price.”

This project has been in the planning process for almost a year, and they hope to have the complex completed by next spring.

Caper Developments Limited is also looking at building an apartment complex for the general population in Antigonish and affordable housing options in Richmond County.
