New private health clinic open in Halifax

A new private clinic opened in Halifax.

The Bluenose Primary Care Clinic, on Young Street, is now serving patients, but for a fee.

With many Nova Scotian’s family doctor’s retiring, and with over 133,000 people waiting for a doctor, this could be an option, but a controversial one.

Some health care professionals opposed to the idea of private health care, including Janet Hazelton, President of the Nurses Union.

The clinic is by appointment only and is $27.50 plus tax for adults every month and $9.50 plus tax for kids 12 and under.

Services include:
-Cough, flu, or cold symptoms, and minor respiratory issues
-Prescription refills or renewals
-Unusual but mild issues such as strains/sprains, headaches, ear aches and sore throat
-Minor infections, including skin and eye irritations

Follow-up appointment, $29
Medication refills, $29
Pap test/results (includes follow up), $79
Prenatal 1st Trimester, $29
