Gold for Team Nova Scotia’s female curling squad at the Canada Games in PEI.
They defeated Team Alberta 9-5 on Friday night to pick up the second gold medal for our province at these games.
The team consists of Sophie Blades and Alexis Cluney of Hammonds Plains, Katie Weissent of Bedford and Steffi Atherton of Chester.
Our male hockey team defeated New Brunswick in the seventh place game, Ontario took gold in overtime over Saskatchewan.
Nova Scotia sits sixth in the medal count with 10, including two gold, two silver and six bronze.
Week two of the games begins Monday.
