Another division title for the Yarmouth Mariners.

They locked up first place in the Eastlink South with a 7-3 win over South Shore last night.

It’s the sixth straight season that the Mariners will finish the regular season as the best team in Nova Scotia.

Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says it’s the first of many goals for his team.

“We’re real happy with that, and it’s not easy to win in this league. It’s a feather in our players caps’, it’s not the end goal but it’s a real nice start,” said Barron.

Yarmouth’s game scheduled for tonight in Truro has been postponed due to weather.

They will play the Lumberjacks at home on Sunday night.

With the division wrapped up, Barron says it gives him a bit more freedom.

“To make sure if a players tired or nursing an injury, they can have some time. You’re looking to win every game but at the end of the day, we need to be ready for the playoffs.”

The Mariners got forward Jerome Nadeau back from injury last night, while defender Tamy Ettaqi is expected to return early next week.
