A 23-year-old man has been charged after a break-in and pursuit in Saint John’s north end.
Police said they were called to a home on Alexandra Street just before 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
It was alleged that the victim’s cell phone, keys and truck had been stolen earlier in the morning.
“At approximately 7:55 a.m., police located the suspect in the complainant’s truck on Lansdowne Avenue and officers began to pursue the suspect who failed to stop for police,” police said in a news release on Monday.
The truck allegedly collided with a police vehicle, causing minor damage to the bumper, said the release.
It then hit a guide wire connected to a utility pole at the corner of Mount Pleasant Avenue and Gooderich Street.
“At approximately 8:03 a.m., the 23-year-old suspect and lone occupant of the truck was arrested,” said the release.
Police said the accused is also under investigation for two other break and enters and theft from vehicles in the Douglas Avenue and Alexandra Street areas.
The suspect appeared in court Monday and was charged with break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, and assaulting two peace officers.
He was remanded into custody and has a bail hearing set for Thursday. Police said more charges are anticipated.
