By Adam Riley Feb 8, 2023 | 6:24 PM

A pair of Calgary residents have been arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police following a fraud investigation at a business in Fort Frances.

On February 4th, officers responded to a report of suspected credit card fraud at the business following several transactions to purchase lottery tickets and gift cards.

Through the investigation it was determined altered credit cards and identity documents had been used.

The two Calgarians, a 47 year old man and a 34 year old woman, were each arrested and charged with:

·        Fraud under $5,000

·        Possession or use of a forged or falsified credit card

Additionally the 47 year old was charged with three counts of Failure to Comply with a Release Order.

Both have been remanded into custody and are set to appear in court on February 9th.

The OPP says the investigation remains ongoing and it is working to identify any other potential victims or suspects.

They are asking the public to report credit card thefts to ensure police are able to respond, and are asking residents if they or someone they know has been the victim of fraud to contact police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
