City Turns to Leasing Vehicles

International Falls City council meeting. February 6, 2023

The city of International Falls is looking to lease vehicles from Enterprise.

A backlog of new vehicles is prompting the move.

The city has been informed it could be two to three years before new vehicles are received.

Mayor Harley Droba says they really have no choice but to consider the leasing agreement.

“It really our only option to get be able to get vehicles so that we can continue to service our community,” says Droba.
The vehicles would be for the town’s public works department, police department, and to a less extent, the fire department.

City Administrator Betty Bergstrom says it’s an agreement worth taking.

“We have researched, and the time out dates to get vehicles are two and three years. I think some of the timeframes are still out there a little ways, but we would be able to get them sooner than later. I think the value that this (agreement) does provide could save us some dollars,” says Bergstrom.

Bergstrom adds there is no time limit to the agreement, so there are no commitments or restraints from the city ending it at a later day.
