Graduates from Confederation College are doing good at finding employment upon graduation.

A recent survey places the College with the second-best graduate employment rate in the province, slightly behind Loyalist College in Belleville.

Ninety-one-point-one per cent were able to find employment in their field within six months after graduation.

College President Kathleen Lynch says programming offered plays a factor.

“Lots of good choices for people these days if they’re thinking about coming to school after high school or coming to school after they’ve been in a career and want to change or graduating from university and want a different pathway or a key to an employment opportunity after they graduate,” says Lynch.

Lynch also credits students eager to get a start on their careers as quickly as possible.

“I think they’re also taking programs that help them with employment skills and job opportunities at the end of the day. So we’re hopefully giving people the skills they need and the programs they need for employment after they graduate. That’s our goal always, and I think our employment rate shows,” says Lynch.

The College also scored high in terms of graduates’ satisfaction with the education received.

A rating of 83.5 per cent is third behind Sudbury’s College Boreal and Northern College in Timmins.

Employer satisfaction was not as strong.

Confederation College was tied for last place with Sheridan College at 66.7 per cent satisfaction.
