A 33 year old Thunder Bay man faces multiple charges in connection to the possession and distribution of child exploitation material following investigations by both the Thunder Bay and York Regional Police.

Officers with the city’s Cyber Crime unit started the investigation in November into the suspected possession of digital material of child exploitation by a local internet user.

Files obtained by the investigation team were found to be consistent with child pornography.

This lead to the identification of a physical address here in the city, police also discovered the same person was connected to a cyber investigation by members of the York Regional Police.

On Wednesday officers executed a search warrant at the address and arrested the suspect without incident, electronic devices were also seized during the search.

The accused faces the following charges:

• Make Available Child Pornography
• Accessing Child Pornography
• Possession of Child Pornography

He appeared in court today and was released with conditions.
