Preparations are underway for upcoming by-elections to elect three new MLAs.
The Dieppe Liberal Association will hold a nominating convention on February 25th, as they look to fill a seat vacated by Roger Melanson last October.
It will be a virtual-hybrid style convention.
The deadline for nomination papers to the NBLA is February 14th at 4:30 pm.
“We urge the Premier to call these three by-elections as soon as possible to ensure all New Brunswickers are represented in the Legislature without further delay. During the fall Legislative session, our Liberal caucus passed a bill closing the loophole that the Higgs government previously used to leave two ridings vacant for over a year,” Liberal Leader Susan Holt says.
The other two vacant seats are in Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint Isidore and in Restigouche-Chaleur.
Premier Blaine Higgs is expected to announce dates for the byelections when the Legislature resumes next month.
