Police say a 90-year-old woman has died after a two-vehicle crash in east Saint John.

Emergency crews were called to Courtenay Avenue and Jean Street just before 3 p.m. Monday.

“It is alleged that a black sedan travelling from Jean Street collided with a silver passenger van travelling on Courtenay Avenue,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

According to police, the sedan overturned as a result of the collision.

The sedan’s passenger was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Police said the driver was also transported to the hospital but was later released.

“The driver and lone occupant of the passenger van was not transported to hospital,” said the release.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
