The Nova Scotia Liberals have called on the province to start a recruitment program to encourage retired healthcare workers to come back to work amid the healthcare staff shortage.

The Department of Health and Wellness issued a statement that they are committed to finding ways to recruit these workers.

The department has acknowledged that retired physicians are valuable, and they are finding ways to integrate them back into the healthcare system.

This is why Virtual Care Nova Scotia, mentorship opportunities, and supporting medical education initiatives have all been offered to physicians who are looking to or have recently retired in Nova Scotia.

The department is also working out ways to provide physicians with flexibility so they can continue to practice as long as they can.
