N.B. To Send 210 Athletes To Canada Winter Games

New Brunswick will be represented by 210 athletes when the Canada Winter Games start next month in Prince Edward Island.

The games run February 18th to March 5th.

3,600 athletes, coaches and managers from across Canada will descend on PEI to compete in sports like archery, fencing, hockey, speed-skating and wheelchair basketball.

“The Canada Games provide a unique opportunity for our talented youth to compete against the very best athletes in the nation,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Tammy Scott-Wallace. “I hope that their participation will allow them to achieve their goals.”

The full Team New Brunswick delegation is also represented by 70 coaches, managers and technical staff and 22 mission team members.

“The Canada Games are a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a high level of competition which will provide our athletes with valuable experience that will help them immensely at future competitions,” said Team New Brunswick chef de mission Nicole Smith, who is leading the team for the fourth consecutive Canada Games.

Competition will also take place in alpine ski, , badminton, biathlon, boxing, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, gymnastics , hockey, judo, karate, ringette, squash and table tennis.
