Day 1 In the Books At The Northern Curling Playdowns

The Josh Szajewski rink from the Keewatin Curing Club is 1-1 after the first day at the Northern Ontario Curling Champions.

Szajewski was beaten 9-0 last night by Tanner Horgan of Sault St. Marie.

Szajewski won his first game of the day downing the Dallas Burgess foursome from the Port Arthur Curling Club.

The Ryan Meadows foursome from the Kenora Curling Club lost their only game of the day 9-3 to Chris Glibota from Sault Ste. Marie.

Defending men’s champion Brad Jacobs won his first game downing Glibota 8-1 last night.

On the woman’s side Krista McCarville is at 2-0 after winning both of her games yesterday, including a 9-2 victory over Nicole Westland-Stewart from the Port Arthur Curling Club last night.

The Fort Frances rink of Hailey Beaudry is still looking for it’s first win, going 0-2 yesterday, including an 8-6 loss last night by Krista Burns from Sudbury.

In this morning’s draw, Meadows will take on Brian Adams Jr. from Port Arthur CC at 9:30 and clubmates Chris Burgess will face Kory Carr both from Port Arthur.

In the woman’s draw, McCarville will take on Jennifer Briscoe from Port Arthur and Jackie McCormick from Stratton will meet Burns.
