Police look for witness in Halifax homicide outside bar

Police are looking for help in their investigation into the death of Ryan Michael Sawyer.

At approximately 1:15 a.m. on December 24, police responded to a report of a disturbance involving several people on Brunswick Street in Halifax.

Officers located Sawyer on the sidewalk, near Brunswick Street.

He was taken to hospital where he later died.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and death to be a homicide.

Investigators are interested in speaking to a man who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have information that could assist the investigation.

The man is described as Black, in his 20s to 30s, tall with a thin build. At the time, he was wearing a black coat and a black shirt with a gold symbol.

This potential witness is not a suspect in the death and investigators are not seeking additional suspects at this time.

Police are asking the potential witness or anyone with information on his identity to call police at 902-490-5020.
