The province’s opposition party says the Conservatives have spent too much on the Nova Scotia Loyal Program, with nothing to show for it.

In a news release, the Liberals say the PC’s spent close to $700,000 on marketing for the initiative, especially on social media and promotional trucks, but with no economic boost, that was expected.

“The Houston government sold this as a program that would benefit Nova Scotians, but so far it’s only costing them money,” says Economic Development shadow minister Derek Mombourquette. “After spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a program, Nova Scotians expect to see results.”

The Nova Scotia Loyal Program was created to encourage residents to buy local with the idea that it would benefit the economy.

“In a cost-of-living crisis, people need more than an advertising campaign, they need real action,” says Mombourquette.

The Liberals say that after over 18 months in office, the campaign has amounted to nothing but an overpriced advertising campaign.
