Yarmouth REMO Says Water Levels ‘Highest In Years’

By Kevin Northup Jan 24, 2023 | 1:05 PM

Yarmouth’s Regional Emergency Management Office is keeping a close eye on water levels.

Another advisory last night for residents of Quinan, Pleasant Lake and Rocco Point about high, fast water and flooding.

No roads have been closed due to the flooding.

A REMO spokesperson says water levels have gone down since last night, but are expected to rise again this week with more rain on the way.

They say water levels are the highest they’ve seen in years.

Environment Canada is calling for up to 50 millimetres of rain in Yarmouth County on Thursday.

The forecaster warns high water levels and waves could impact coastlines in Yarmouth and Shelburne counties during high tide around 2 p.m.
