A multi-national technology company has designated École Abbey-Landry in Memramcook as one of its distinguished schools for the next three years.

Apple has recognized the K-to-8 school for being a hub of innovation, leadership and educational excellence.

All students, teachers and non-teaching staff have iPads thanks to school fundraisers.

Apple TV is available in all classes and common areas and most teachers are designated as experts in the use of Apple products.

The designation allows École Abbey-Landry to collaborate with global peers and work with the Apple Education team.

“Efforts to create a digital technology-enabled learning environment that engages our students are paying off,” said school principal Pierre Roy. “This Apple designation recognizes that excellence in technological knowledge is at the heart of our approach. Our school wants to develop the full potential of students by using technology to arouse their curiosity and optimize their acquisition of knowledge and skills.”

“École Abbey-Landry is a real centre of leadership that succeeds in setting itself apart through its culture of continuous technological innovation,” said Monique Boudreau, Superintendent of the District scolaire francophone Sud. “Apple Distinguished Schools are recognized around the world for their innovation. They promote collaboration, creativity and critical thinking, which makes students eager to learn.”
