Traffic Stop Yields Drug Charges

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested two Fort Frances residents following a traffic stop on Highway 11 near Pearson’s Road Thursday.

Officers with several branches of the OPP including the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau were involved in the stop.

Police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and fentanyl along with drug trafficking paraphernalia.

A 42 year old man and 37 year old women have both been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance-other drugs contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA

Both appeared in Fort Frances Bail Court on January 20th and have been released from custody.

They will appear in court again on February 27th.
