Alphabet Inc. is Google’s parent company and they announced that six per cent of its current workforce would be cut, which equals about 12 thousand jobs.
US staff will get severance, six months of healthcare and immigration support. With employees around the world, Alphabet Inc. has to abide by local rules and regulations when it comes to layoffs.
On the same note, Microsoft is also cutting staff by about five per cent or 10 thousand jobs.
