Salisbury Market Gets Permanent Home

By Allan Dearing Jan 18, 2023 | 4:51 PM

The Salisbury Farmers and Artisans Market is getting a permanent home in the community thanks to funding from the federal and provincial governments.

An existing barn on Main Street will be renovated with $400,000 from ACOA and the Enabling Accessibility Fund along with $250,000 from the province.

The project will involve renovating to improve accessibility features, adding heating and solar panels and to construct gender-neutral washrooms.

Local dignitaries were on hand in Salisbury to make the announcement on Tuesday.

“This market is an important part of the local economy as well as a place for residents to gather and socialize.” said Albert MLA Mike Holland.

“Investing in shared public spaces like the market in Salisbury helps revitalize local economies, boosts tourism, and gives residents a place to come together safely,” noted ACOA minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor.
