Nova Scotia is reporting that the recent World Juniors tournament is on track to have the highest ticket sales in the event’s history.

According to a communications officer from the province, final calculations are still underway but they are estimating between Halifax and Moncton the event generated over $40 million.

Over 250 people also volunteered their time throughout the tournament which played a key role in the event’s success.

Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are now awaiting Hockey Canadas’ final report on the event which will give them a more accurate idea of the total revenue generated in the two host cities.

Next year’s World Juniors Hockey Championships will be hosted in Sweden.

The bidding process for the 2025 event is also now beginning and Halifax Mayor Mike Savage recently indicated in an interview that Halifax and Moncton haven’t ruled out submitting a bid yet.
