The Town of Riverview is looking to the future and its seniors.

A survey is available looking at issues including housing, access to essential services, transportation needs and activity programming.

The Seniors’ Roundtable has put forward a new community survey that tackles questions regarding housing, access to essential services, transportation needs, activity programming, and more in an effort to understand which issues matter most to residents. The project is intended to move the Town closer to being an ‘age-friendly’ community, supporting a good quality of life so that older adults can remain in their homes longer or move to suitable alternative housing as they age. Active lifestyle, sense of community, and security are all vital metrics of the survey that seeks to enhance inclusion.

“Community building makes for a healthy and welcoming town that encourages its residents to enjoy what life has to offer,” explained Councillor and co-founder of the Senior’s Roundtable, Cecile Cassista. “The process requires the approval of the government for municipalities to receive the designation to be an age-friendly community. It’s important that all aspects of the survey are provided as an option for the community to respond and share their feedback. The Senior’s Roundtable is committed to working through the various stages of the community input to address any shortcomings that may exist. The committee work on this started just before the pandemic, and as such, it had to be placed on the shelf for a short period. We are pleased that phase 1 is now well on its way.”

There are 60 questions and the survey

It can be found online or a paper copy can be picked up at the Town of Riverview.
