The Liberals want an emergency house session on ER’s.

Leader Zach Churchill and Health Critic Brendan Maguire are calling on Premier Tim Houston to open the legislature, in light of two Nova Scotians that lost their lives because they were unable to get emergency care.

Churchill says this deserves the full attention of government.

“Tim Houston has called emergency sessions for much less, to stop an MLA pay increase, and to overturn an independent UARB decision. We believe the real emergency is in healthcare, and we’re seeing that across the province.

He says these tragedies need to be investigated.

“We’ve got to talk about ideas and funding that can help. What the Houston government is doing is only making it worse, it’s getting worse by the week.”

A young woman died at a hospital in Amherst on New Year’s Eve after waiting seven hours to see a doctor.

In Cape Breton, another story has surfaced that a woman died at home after waiting seven hours to be seen at an ER on December 30th.
