Car, Transport Truck Collide Near Quispamsis

One person was hurt after a car and a transport truck collided on Route 1 eastbound near Quispamsis.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at the Hammond River Bridge early Wednesday afternoon.

Mike Boyle, chief of the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department, said the lone person in the car was trapped inside.

“The car had been struck by a transport truck so it had pretty significant damage,” Boyle said in an interview.

“It probably took 15 to 20 minutes for firefighters to extricate the person and then paramedics took over from there.”

Boyle said the driver was taken to the hospital by paramedics, but their condition is unknown.

Hampton Fire Rescue also responded as the crash was initially reported to be closer to Hampton, he said.

Route 1 eastbound was closed for about an hour while emergency crews managed the scene.
