An MLA wants answers on a recent death at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Independent for Cumberland-North Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin has written to Health Minister Michelle Thompson about the December 31st death of 37-year old Allison Holthoff.

The wife and mother of three died while waiting for care at the emergency department.

Smith-McCrossin is calling on Thompson to address the immediate concerns of the family and community to ensure an investigation gets underway.

She says many changes must happen to ensure safety of her constituents in need of emergency medical care.

Smith-McCrossin requested a meeting with Thompson.

Liberal Health Critic Brendan Maguire says our friends, families and fellow Nova Scotians should never have to go through this.

Holthoff was also the Deputy Chief of the Tidnish Volunteer Fire Department.
