Thunder Bay Police, OPP and APS launch their 2022 Festive R.I.D.E. program - Nov 30 2022

Statistics released by Thunder Bay Police and Ontario Provincial Police based off of their 2022 Festive R.I.D.E. program are not good.

Official numbers from the Thunder Bay Police show between November 30th 2022 and December 31st 2022 there were 31 impaired driving related offences within the city.

Including some notable ones which occurred within days of the start of the campaign.

Combined with impaired driving numbers gathered prior to the campaign there were 204 incidents throughout the year in Thunder Bay.

Meanwhile in the rest of the region which is patrolled by the Ontario Provincial Police the numbers are also not very optimistic.

That campaign ran an additional two weeks and saw 2,266 R.I.D.E events where police stopped 31,698 vehicles.

Of those vehicles 140 impaired driving charges were laid and 19 suspensions were handed out, 16 were warn range suspensions and three were zero tolerance suspensions.
