People Asked Not to Park in Cape Breton Regional Hospitals Fire Lanes

Security at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshall are clamping down on illegal parking at the buildings fire lanes. These lanes must remain open for emergency crews to respond to a fire or another emergency.

The hospitals security has been authorized by the Cape Breton Regional Municipality to issue tickets to those that park in fire lanes. The fines are $136 for a first offence, $236 for a second offence, and $436 for a third offence. Vehicles may also be removed at the owner’s expense.

People dropping off patients under the canopy at the main entrance may leave their vehicle their temporarily while they ensure the patient is safely inside the building, but they must move to the parking lot as soon as the transfer is complete.
