Would You Feel Prepared For A Recession?

By Brad Perry Jan 4, 2023 | 5:07 PM

Many Canadians say they do not feel prepared if the economy were to enter a recession.

That is according to a survey conducted by Halifax-based Narrative Research in early December.

About 55 per cent of those surveyed said they feel generally or completely prepared for a recession.

Nearly one-third said they do not feel very prepared, and 13 per cent said they do not feel prepared at all.

Men, older Canadians, and those with six-figure household incomes were most likely to report feeling prepared.

Across regions, those in Quebec indicated feeling more prepared than those in the rest of the country.

The survey was conducted online between Dec. 8 and 10, 2022, with 2,237 Canadians, 18 years of age or older from the Logit Group’s Canadian Omnibus.

As a non-probability sample, and in accordance with CRIC Public Opinion Research Standards, a margin of error is not applied.
