Bay Village Vandalized Again

A Port Arthur coffee shop which has been the victim of vandalism in the past has been struck again.

An image in a post to Bay Village Coffee’s social media shows another object, this time a cinder block, had been thrown through one of its windows. The incident is said to have occurred before 6 a.m. Tuesday.

“OH NO NOT AGAIN” the post began, “It’s not even been a full year since our last “rauction”. We know that our cookies are good but c’mon this is getting ridiculous already. But don’t worry everyone… we’ll be back open as scheduled Wednesday at 7”

The business followed up with a video Wednesday morning explaining that they had left some cookies on the counter over the holiday weekend and, aside from some cookies, nothing was taken.

Earlier this year a rock, with a discriminatory letter attached to it was thrown through the door of the shop. That resulted in a round of support for the business from residents across the city, and saw the offending rock, later repainted, auctioned off to support Thunder Bay’s Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Another image in the post shows a Thunder Bay Police cruiser and officer on scene investigating. In a release police have confirmed they are investigating a break and enter at the business, which remains ongoing.

This is the third incident to have occurred over the last four years. In late 2019 the business was broken into after a rock had been thrown through its front door.
