A high-risk sex offender living in Yarmouth county will remain in custody until his next court appearance in the new year.

Allen William Desrosiers was arrested last week in Rockville, Yarmouth County, on charges of Criminal Harassment in relation to two incidents of stalking according to the Nova Scotia RCMP.

He appeared in Shelburne court yesterday and has been remanded until his next court appearance on January fourth.

There is no word yet on if his next court date will take place in Shelburne or Yarmouth.

Desrosiers, a Canadian citizen, was previously convicted, and served a full 23-year sentence in the United States, for charges including kidnapping, rape, assault and battery.

Though he had returned to Canada and was living in the Yarmouth County area since August, the public was not notified of his presence until the day of his arrest.
