The final report from the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission is expected to be released soon.
Local residents have been speaking out against putting Kenora and Dryden in the Thunder Bay-Rainy River Riding.
Lynn Lietch is one of the commissioners and says they have to balance a number of different concerns.
“As close as reasonably possible to have the same population but we are to balance that goal with other factors; communities of interest, communities of identity being respected, historical patterns and geography.
Lietch admits their decision won’t be easy.
“There is a domino effect of course. Every time you make one change it’s going to have an effect everywhere else. So we have to consider the cumulative effect of all the submissions and comments we received before we make our final decision.”
The Commission held public hearing in Kenora, Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay as well as virtual sessions to gather input.
