Provincial Funding To Expand Contact North Programs

By Mike Ebbeling Dec 20, 2022 | 10:46 AM

Ontario is supporting learners and job seekers wherever they are in our region.

The government has come through with more than $4.7 million to support Contact North programming.

The money will enhance virtual learning and training opportunities with 13 online centres equipped with Extended Reality technology, and a laptop and internet loaner program.

Minister of Colleges and Universities Jill Dunlop says they are giving jobseekers a fair chance to acquire the skills needed to compete in the labour market.

She adds, “This funding will provide learners living in small, rural, remote, Indigenous and Francophone communities with access to virtual “hand-on” training to position them for success in the workforce.”

Contact North operates 78 online learning centres across the province, offering students access to computer workstations, web and video conferencing, learning management systems, as well as exam supervision.
