Another busy weekend for police in the Saint John region as part of the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign.

A total of 1,127 vehicles were checked between Thursday and Sunday, according to Saint John police.

Officers conducted 116 mandatory roadside screening tests and arrested two people for impaired driving.

They also issued five seven-day suspensions and towed five vehicles over the course of the four days.

To date, police have checked 3,946 vehicles and conducted 442 mandatory roadside screening tests.

Five people have been arrested for impaired driving, one for refusing to provide a breath sample, and 18 vehicles have been towed.

Police said they also nabbed three suspended drivers and one prohibited driver.

Festive R.I.D.E. takes place each weekend in December with the goal of reducing impaired driving during the holiday season.

Police and public safety officers conduct checkpoints and roaming patrols at various locations in the region.

This year, Saint John police partnered with the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force and the Department of Justice and Public Safety.
