The Par-en-Bas Sharks are the 2022 Timber Cup champions.

They defeated Yarmouth High 3-2 in the first ever all-local final at the tournament on Sunday.

Blake Newell had all three goals for the Sharks, and says it feels amazing to help his team win.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. It feels great to win and defeat Yarmouth for the Cup. This team is very close and we work together, we’re family,” says Newell.

Sharks coach Julien Boudreau says it feels great to finally lift the cup.

“It’s been 12 years, and we’ve come close twice. To finally get it in front of our home crowd, against our rivals, makes it very special. Just the emotion of everything we’ve sacrificed to get here makes it all worth it,” says Boudreau.

Par-en-Bas had to defeat Avon View in the semis earlier in the day, while the Vikings beat defending champion Bay View 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Landon Watkins-Bonnar.

Boudreau thanked all the volunteers for making it a successful tournament.
