By Allan Dearing Dec 19, 2022 | 5:30 AM

The Humanity Project will be the operator of Moncton’s emergency homeless shelter this winter.

According to a statement from the City of Moncton, the non-profit organization located at 499 St. George Street has signed an agreement with the Province of New Brunswick to operate the emergency shelter and has also signed an agreement with the City to lease the building.

The shelter at the Moncton Lions Community Centre on 473 St. George Street is scheduled to open Monday night (December 19).

The fire marshal has said the building can accommodate up to 125 people.

In the meantime, a City of Moncton spokesperson said a temporary location is being sought to hold seniors programming this winter and an announcement is expected in January.
