Over the weekend another major contribution to the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore Brighter Days Campaign was announced, this time with $100,000 coming from Buck’s Home Building Centre.

“Over the past few years, the business has been going well and we know that we owe most of that to our staff and our customers from the community, so we wanted to make this donation to show our appreciation of them by supporting something that will help everyone,” said Buck’s co-owner Ryan Buck.

Buck made the announcement along with his wife and co-owner Julie Buck during the company’s Christmas party this past Friday where he and his staff presented the Health Services Foundation with a cheque.

“Our hope is that our employees, their families, and friends can all appreciate that we want to help the hospital be the best equipped for meeting the needs of the community and we believe the work being undertaken at South Shore Regional will do exactly that,”.

The Brighter Days Campaign aims to raise $9.5 million to help with South Shore Regional’s redevelopment which will expand the footprint of the existing hospital by almost 30 per cent, and will provide bright, modern, functional new spaces that include a new Emergency Department, renewed and enlarged Endoscopy and Day Surgery Units, a new Dialysis and an MRI.

The Health Services Foundation’s latest update on their fundraising goal which they provided prior to the announcement from Bucks indicated they had already raised (or received commitments) of  $8 million.
