Man Charged With Second Degree Murder

A 27-year-old man from Esgenoôpetitj First Nation has been charged with second degree murder in connection with a homicide in the community.

During the early afternoon of June 2, 2022, Neguac RCMP were called to a disturbance at a home on Algonquin Road in Esgenoôpetitj First Nation.

When police arrived, a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound and the suspect had already fled the scene.

A 27-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the investigation.

The victim, a 36-year-old man from the community, was taken to hospital where he later died.

He was identified as Joshua Ian Robichaud.

On December 13, Dylan Dedam appeared in Miramichi Provincial Court and was charged with second degree murder.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court next August.
