The Town of Lunenburg is moving forward with the renaming of two of it’s parks.

At their most recent council meeting votes passed for the renaming of both 250th Anniversary Park and Blockhouse Hill Park which will now become Sylvia Park and Labrador Park respectively.

Prior to voting in favour of those changes, council had a lengthy discussion about the need for more consultation on the name change of Cornwallis Street. Ultimately they decided to conduct public consultations with residents along the street, which will be presented to council at their first meeting of March 2023.

During the discussions on the matter, all councilors seemed to be in agreement that a name change is necessary, but that they would like to ensure they have a suitable replacement before moving forward.
