Lights Of Hope will begin appearing in the windows at St. Joe’s in Saint John.

It brings Christmas cheer while raising funds for St. Joseph’s hospital.

For every $250 raised between November 22nd and the new year, a candle is placed in a window at St. Joe’s.

Laurie Flood said during the first two years reached their goal of raising $50-thousand dollars for priority needs.

Priority needs include the orthopedic surgery program and a handheld ultrasound for the well baby clinic.

“The best part of it is that it brings joy to our patients and hope to everyone who experiences that light or those candles in the next month or so,” Flood said.

Flood said the hospital has many groups who generously provide cards and a gift for more than 100 patients who spend Christmas in the hospital.

“If they are on their own, they don’t have anybody, we have individuals that will actually go out and support those patients at Christmas,” Flood said.

All proceeds from the foundation’s 50/50 draw in December will support the Lights of Hope campaign.

Lights of Hope is now in its third year and as of Wednesday afternoon, 41 candles had been sold.
