Transportation Minister Responds To Auditors Report

By Tim Davidson Dec 7, 2022 | 9:34 AM

The Minister of Transportation says her ministry has already acted on the auditor’s report on the priorities for road-building in the province.

Ontario’s Auditor General says five lower ranked highway projects were placed at the top of the list over more higher ranked ones.

But Caroline Mulroney all the projects have been approved.

“The Ministry of Transportation was very clear that the projects that were identified in the Auditor General’s report as ‘deferred’ have actually all moved forward,” Mulroney told MPP’s in the Ontario Legislature on Tuesday.

“Either in the planning stages, the due diligence stages or the construction stages.”

Mulroney says that includes the twinning of the Trans-Canada Highway east of the Manitoba border towards Kenora.

That project is listed in the Auditor Generals report as a medium priority with the cost coming in at anywhere from $500 million to a $1 billion.
