There are a number of ways to help out a family in need this holiday season around HRM.

The Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank have a Christmas Hamper program to help supply families with a turkey dinner. There are also toys given to any children to put under the tree.

You can send a gift to a senior under Home Instead’s, Be a Santa to a Senior program. The Home Instead office on Spring Garden Rd, as well as all of the Berkely locations have trees with an ornament attached with the gift request on it. You can then return the ornament with the gift, unwrapped, back to the location until December 9. There is a wrapping party on December 13.

Feed Nova Scotia has the Hearts for Christmas Campaign, where you sponsor a family that would receive fixings for a turkey dinner and Gift Cards.

Even Woody the talking Christmas Tree at Mic Mac Mall is accepting donations to Feed NS until December 23.
