Through the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act (MVA), the province legislates speed limits on public roadways to a default speed limit of 50 km/h.
The province allows municipalities to request posted speed limits below 50 km/h if accompanied by necessary documentation including current operating speeds and roadway characteristics.
