Speed limits will drop from 50 km/h to 40 km/h on a number of streets in Dartmouth.

It’s part of an ongoing effort to improve road safety.

The impacted streets within the boundary are:

  • Rose Street
  • Tulip Street
  • Dahlia Street
  • Myrtle Street
  • Pine Street
  • Beech Street
  • Oak Street
  • Mayflower Street
  • Cleveland Crescent

Crews will begin sign installation work next week.

Through the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act (MVA), the province legislates speed limits on public roadways to a default speed limit of 50 km/h.

The province allows municipalities to request posted speed limits below 50 km/h if accompanied by necessary documentation including current operating speeds and roadway characteristics.
