A lot of highway driving for the Yarmouth Mariners this month.

The team is in New Brunswick tonight for a game against the Campbellton Tigers.

The Mariners have been successful on the road, going 7-2 this season, and are now nationally ranked in the CJHL Top 20.

Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says they’re playing good defensive hockey.

“Our goals against and goal differential is tops in the league. Goals come and go, but when the playoffs come around you have to be playing well defensively, and we’ve done a good job of that this season,” says Barron.

Yarmouth has won five in a row, and are tied with Truro for first in their division.

The Mariners move on to play Miramichi tomorrow night as a six-game road swing continues.

Barron says they’re battling the flu bug.

“We haven’t had full practices here in the last week or two weeks, we’ve been missing 2-3 guys each time. It’s no excuse, everybody is going through it right now. We’ll embrace it.”

They’ll visit New Brunswick and PEI again next weekend.

The Mariners aren’t back home until December 15th.
